Sooooo…has anyone watched the last couple episodes of NOS4A2 on AMC? I have!
I listened to the audiobook like a year or two ago, and I can honestly say that it was, by far, the most enthusiastic reading I’ve ever heard. 😆
Kate Mulgrew narrates it. Do you know who that is? You might recognize her. Here’s her pic.
That’s right! Star Trek Voyager. Orange is the New Black. Many. Other. Things.
Anyway, back to the TV show.
I had no idea this was coming out. The trailer just popped up on some feed or another a few weeks ago, and I was quite pleased.
The book is fantastic, written by Joe Hill, aka son of Stephen King, writer of the Locke and Key comic series, etc, etc. If you haven’t read or listened to the book, you totally should. It is bonkers.
The show is good so far. The pacing may be a tad slow for my taste, but I am an impatient human, so that might just be me. Zachary Quinto plays Charlie Manx, aka the bad guy, and of course, he’s killing it.
The other actors are doing excellent work as well. Ashleigh Cummings as Vic McQueen. Jahkara Smith as Maggie. All very good.
This story is…strange and harrowing. Or it was in the book, at least. The show seems to head the same direction the book does, so I expect the same from it.
It’s about a vampire that drives around in a Rolls Royce Wraith, abducting children. He takes them (at least some of them) to a place called Christmasland.
Vic is a girl with a gift for finding lost things. Despite her best efforts to avoid taking on yet more drama in her life, fate drops her into the mix with Manx. They do not get along.
If you haven’t seen the show, and you like weird stories about vampires (definitely not the glittery kind), you might like this show. It’s on AMC after one of the Walking Dead shows.
